Get the look: matte silicone

When it comes to the modern bathroom or kitchen, matte tiles and fittings are trending now and are a simple way to make a statement. Creating a peaceful, earthy space, matte tiles are sophisticated and luxurious with a softer and more natural look and feel.

Matte silicone has arrived

To complete your matte look bathroom or kitchen make sure you use a premium matte finish sealant. Tiling expert Maxisil is the first in the industry to offer matte silicone to complement matte tiles. Perfect for natural stone applications, Maxisil recommends the new Maxisil N Natural Stone sealant beige, now available in matte in six of its most popular colours: Black, White, Anthracite, Beige, Dark Grey and Manhattan.

Maxisil Natural Stone sealant creates a beautiful, clean finish without staining natural stone surfaces such as marble, granite, and sandstone. It is elastic but hard-wearing and suitable for application in constantly wet areas. Maxisil Natural Stone matte sealants remain forever young and contain strong fungicides to help fight mould. The product can even be used on non-stone surfaces including steel and timber.

Achieve the perfect finish

To achieve the perfect finish, use the complete Maxisil system when applying silicone and follow these tips of the trade.

1. Clean joint

Before applying silicone, clean joint using Maxisil Cleaner.

2. Apply silicone

When working with unpolished natural stone surfaces, make sure not to spread the sealant beyond the joints, as the sealant is difficult to remove once it enters the pores of the natural stones.

3. Smooth finish

For smoothing use Maxisil Smoothtex N Silicone Smoothing Agent (undiluted). Wash and remove excess agent immediately. Maxisil does not recommend the use of usual smoothing agents (i.e. dishwashing detergents etc.) because of the high sensitivity to staining of some marble and natural stone. When tooling off the matte finish with Maxisil Smoothtex N Silicone Smoothing Agent, please be aware that the joint should only be tooled off once with a smoothing tool immersed in Smoothtex N Smoothing Agent. Do not make repeated passes with the smoothing tool to avoid polishing the matt surface.

Due to the many possible influences during and after application, it is recommended that the customer perform a test prior to application.
